These terms of use set out the ground rules for using CalcFoundry, and explain clearly what you can expect from the calculators and guides on this site, and what remains your own responsibility. By browsing the site or running a calculator you accept the terms below.
They cover the main areas you would want to know before relying on a result: every tool is built for education and gives an indicative estimate rather than personalised financial, tax or legal advice; how the calculators are built and checked against primary New Zealand sources; where liability sits if you rely on a figure to make a decision; how your data and privacy are handled; what counts as acceptable use of the site; who owns the copyright in the tools, text and source code; how links to bodies such as Inland Revenue or the Reserve Bank are treated; how changes to these terms are published; and which country's law applies.
Read the relevant section before you rely on a result for a real decision, and contact us if anything is unclear or you spot an error worth correcting.
The tools are for education and as estimates only
Every calculator and guide on this site is provided for educational and indicative purposes only. They give you a useful, good-faith estimate to help you understand a number or a decision. They are not personalised financial, tax, legal, investment or other professional advice, and they do not take account of your full personal circumstances.
For a decision that matters, confirm the figures with the relevant authority, such as Inland Revenue, Work and Income, your bank, your insurer, or a qualified professional.
Accuracy and how the tools are built
The calculators are built from scratch against primary New Zealand sources and are reviewed on a regular cycle. We work hard to keep everything accurate and current, but rates and rules change, and errors can occur.
We do not warrant that every figure is free of error at every moment, and you use the results at your own discretion. If you spot something wrong, please tell us and we will correct it promptly.
No liability for decisions made
To the extent permitted by law, CalcFoundry and its owner are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the calculators, guides or any other content on this site.
Because the tools produce estimates, the responsibility for any decision you make remains yours. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot legally be excluded.
Your data and privacy
You can use a calculator that has been embedded on another website, or opened from a shared link, without creating an account. An account is required to use the CalcFoundry workspace, to purchase calculator access and to manage your billing.
The figures you type into a calculator are worked out in your browser to produce your result. Information you provide when you create an account, subscribe or contact us is handled as set out in our privacy policy.
Acceptable use
You are welcome to use the tools and link to them freely. You may not, however, attempt to disrupt or overload the site, scrape or copy the content or source code at scale, reproduce the calculators or guides on another site other than through the embed code issued with an active subscription, or pass the work off as your own. Reasonable, fair quotation with a link back is fine.
Copyright and intellectual property
All content on this website, including the calculators, tools, source code, text and design, is owned by CalcFoundry and protected under the Copyright Act 1994 (New Zealand). No part of the site may be reproduced, copied, distributed, stored or used in any form without prior written permission from the owner.
Branding you supply for your own calculators, such as your logo, colours and business details, remains yours. Links to authoritative sources point to those organisations, which own their own material.
External links
Some pages link to outside websites, such as Inland Revenue, Work and Income, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand or Sorted, so you can check official figures. We provide those links to help you, but we are not responsible for the content or availability of any external site.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version always lives on this page with its review date, and continued use of the site means you accept the version in force.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any dispute relating to the site is subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
